Amit Shah to Visit Dehradun Tomorrow, BJP Prepares Strategy for 2027 Uttarakhand Polls
Amit Shah will visit Dehradun tomorrow for a BJP Core Committee meeting, a President’s Police Colour ceremony and a public rally, as the party steps up its preparations for the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections.
Shah’s programme will include three major events. He will first attend a meeting of the BJP Core Committee, followed by a ceremony at the Police Lines, where he will present the President’s Police Colour to the Uttarakhand Police. He will then address a public gathering at Parade Ground as part of the ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ campaign.
The BJP expects a large number of party workers from Dehradun, Rishikesh and Haridwar to attend the public meeting. Political analysts are linking Shah’s visit to the party’s preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections. Shah frequently visits poll-bound states to review organisational activities and formulate electoral strategies.
The Core Committee meeting is expected to focus on the party’s organisational strength, constituencies where it faces challenges and the direction of its election campaign. The meeting is also expected to provide an opportunity to assess the party’s preparations ahead of the upcoming electoral contest.
The visit comes as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s government highlights several policy and administrative initiatives. During Dhami’s tenure, the state government has implemented the Uniform Civil Code and introduced laws against religious conversion and examination malpractice. It has also taken steps to make the recruitment process more transparent.
In a recent survey, Dhami was ranked as the second-best Chief Minister in the country. His government has also highlighted economic growth, tourism development and improvements in infrastructure related to the Char Dham pilgrimage as key areas of its work.
However, several issues continue to feature in discussions at the local level. These include employment opportunities, the expansion of healthcare facilities, basic infrastructure requirements such as roads and drinking water in hilly areas, and human-wildlife conflict.
Opposition parties have also continued to question the government's land-related policies and the pace of development work in the state.
The BJP views Shah’s visit as an opportunity to strengthen its organisational preparations and present the achievements of the Dhami government before the public. With the 2027 Assembly elections approaching, the outcomes of the organisational review and the messaging at the public rally could influence the direction of political activity in Uttarakhand over the coming months.
